|
Pathology North was formed on the 1st July 2009, offering services through the amalgamation of the pathology services of:
Pathology North is one of the largest pathology services in the nation, offering services from “The Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Queensland Border”. We perform 20 million tests annually, providing pathology and laboratory medicine services from Northern Sydney to Tweed Heads at the State border. Our staff of 1,000 pathologists, clinicians, medical laboratory scientists, technical and operational staff provide a comprehensive range of laboratory and clinical services to Public Hospitals, select Private Hospitals, Consultant Specialists, community General Practitioners, Corporate Organisations, Community Organisations and Public Institutions throughout the State. In addition to providing medical diagnostic and reference laboratories testing, Pathology North offers expert consultation and interpretation of results, clinical support, tertiary referral services and infection control. Unlike many commercial pathology services, our laboratories provide specialty testing across a full range of esoteric, reference and niche laboratory areas, including haematology, oncology and cancer genetics, clinical, community and reproductive genetic testing and screening, endocrinology, immunology and allergy, sub-specialty histopathology and cytology, molecular diagnostics, occupational health and workplace health and safety, trace element and heavy metal analysis, toxicology, and drug screening and confirmation. We are committed to teaching, education and research. Many of our staff have academic affiliations with major Universities and Medical Schools, including the Sydney Medical School (University of Sydney), Newcastle Medical School (University of Newcastle) and the University of Technology, Sydney. We actively support and undertake clinical trials and other research collaborations. Our extensive geographical network enables us to provide quality laboratory medical services not only to Greater Sydney and the Hunter, but also to regional and rural Northern NSW. We offer access to affordable care: our fee policy is based on the Government’s Medicare fee schedule, and we offer “no gap” fees wherever possible. We make a difference to people’s lives by advancing patient care, providing world-class quality pathology and laboratory medicine delivered at an affordable price. Pathology North Contacts
